Tocado is a Sydney group that perform Bossa Novas and Jazz. The music Tocado play is melodic, happy and tranquil. Perfect, as background ambiance at a special occasion of corporate function. A key feature of Bossa nova is its cool, relaxed style, perhaps owing to the fact that it was developed in the beach side areas of Rio de Janeiro.
The idea behind Tocado is to replicate live, the amazing music of Brasil. The set list is inspired by the greats such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sergio Mendez, Baden Powel, Marcos Valle, Stan Getz and Astrid Gilberto.
‘Tocado’, in Portuguese means, ‘to play’.
Tocado’s line up is interchangeable. The group can be a guitar and Sax duo, a Trio by adding vocals or congas, or a quartet by having both. The group has been popular choice for wedding ceremonies and has performed at many events including AMP awards nights, the Hatoneale Christmas party and many wedding ceremonies. They are also regulars at the Space in Manly and have acquired a following from the local Brasilian community.
